Designer Directory is launched!

At last the BuyWeddingDresses Designer Directory is launched!  Its a few hours late, but its up and running.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be adding to the the directory, with more designers and more information.

Click on the ‘Designer Directory’ section in the menu bar of our site for the full list of designers.  If your favourite designer isn’t listed then drop us an e-mail or a comment with thier name and we’ll get them added.  we want to make as complete a list as possible.

Have a browse, see what you think and let us know!

We’re working hard on the new feature for the website to make it easy to find out about the latest designer names.  This should be live sometime today…

How do you feel about used wedding dresses?

This site has very strong connections to eBay and you can certainly find lots of bargain wedding dresses for sale on there, both new and used, but how comfortable would you be with a used wedding dress?

As used clothes go a wedding dress is a pretty great deal - it has probably only been worn once for a matter of hours.  Its likely to have been meticulously looked after and professionally cleaned so what’s the problem?

There seems to be 2 major problems.  The memories the dress might hold for the previous bride and the fact that you ‘deserve’ a new dress for your (hopefully) one special day.  So is it right to buy a used wedding dress?

Well, with potential savings running into thousands of pounds for designer dresses it is becoming increasingly popular and may just be worth it.

Designer Directory on its way

I just wanted to let you know that we are working on a designer directory for BuyWeddingDresses which will be launched sometime next week.  This should be a great help when trying to find that special designer dress and will include links to the designer’s own website as well as any eBay auctions featuring their dresses.

This feature is currently under construction so if there is anything else you would like to see included then let us know.

Bradford on Avon’s Wedding Day - 5th October

Join the wedding trail this Sunday from 11am - 4pm and discover everything wedding related in Bradford on Avon.  Start with a complimentary drink and goody bag which will include a map to help guide you around the many shops and stands.

At 4.30pm there will be a charity Wedding Breakfast and fashion show with proceeds going to  Dorothy House Hospice and Breast Cancer Care.

Tickets cost £10 and are available on the day.

This is a fantastic idea and it sounds like it will be a great day.  Hopefully we’ll see more of this type of day around the rest of the country.

Bradford on Avon’s Wedding Day

Newcastle Wedding Show 27-28 September

UK Wedding Show’s regular fair is back in the North East.  Newcastle Racecourse is the  venue for this event featuring Fashion Shows showcasing both local and national designers.

There will also be loads of stands I’m sure tempting you with everything from the useless to the essential, all of which you’ll simply have to have!

Knights, castles and a beautiful dress

A medieval theme wedding is a dream for many brides.  But the fairytale castle, white charger and sumptuous wedding feast will all be out of place without the right dress.

Another shoe-string wedding

It seems the credit crunch is having a serious effect on how much couples spend on their weddings.  A Devonshire couple spent less than £500 on the whole thing, with the bride spending just £50 on her dress.  Of course she got it from eBay, where else?
